This past week was dinosaur week. I did as best I could to incorporate dinosaurs into everything. We read a lot of informational books about dinosaurs. We created notes about dinosaurs. The students decided what we would make the notes about. I think this helps the students take ownership of their work.
I also incorporated dinosaurs into math. We attempted to measure the length of dinosaurs outside but it was far too cold and the wind was blowing and it blew away our rulers and yardsticks. That attempt was unsuccsessful. We also compare the length of dinosaur footprints to those of our own.

How do you think you'd feel about teaching totally by theme each week? Easier to plan? What happens if there's a day off--snow day, concert day, etc.?
